Dhanush Acharya (23), resident of Shri Durgaprasad Nilaya and employed in a granite factory in Bantakal in Udupi taluk, had arrived at his relatives’ house in Guruvayanakere to spend his weekend. Accompanied by Shashank, Shiva and Bhishma Palke in a car, he visited the Dharmasthals temple.

Thereafter they proceeded to see the Ermai waterfall. While having got into water with the friends, he is said to have lost his physical balance and drowned.
Others around tried to save him but because of the depth they could not venture further. His body was traced some time later.
His father had died of heart attack just over a year ago. He is survived by his mother and two brothers.
It is very very unfortunate that a precious life is lost. This is not the first incident where an unsuspecting young man has been swallowed by water and found a watery grave.
Can these tragedies be avoided?. I think The Gov3ernemtn should try and impose eitehr restrictions at dangerous s[port of post life guards to keep[ an eye on young people venturing into lakes and rivers.
I join several others in offering condolences to th members of the bereaved family of Dhanush
