Beneficiaries laud Siddaramaiah Govt schemes at Jana Mana
Udupi: The ‘Janamana’ interactive session with the District Minister In-charge at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Rajathadri Manipal here on Saturday, May 13 witnessed a number of beneficiaries appreciating Siddaramaiah led congress government schemes.
The programme, organised by the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Information and Publicity, included beneficiaries of government schemes like the ‘Anna Bhagya,’ ‘Vidya Siri,’ ‘Ksheera Bhagya,’ ‘Ksheera Dhare,’ ‘Matsyashraya,’ ‘Bidai-Shadi Bhagya,’ ‘Manaswini,’ ‘Yashaswini’ and the housing schemes.
The beneficiaries expressed their opinion in front of the district minister in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj. Beneficiaries of the Anna Bhagya, Mytri, Manaswini, Vidyashree, Bidayi, Ksheera Bhagya, Ksheera Dhare and Runamukta Schemes showered praises on the government and the implementing agencies for bringing changes in their lives.
Ananda Matad, Bhaskar Poojary and Damayanthi Karkala who were beneficiaries of the Anna Bhagya scheme, were all praise for the supply of free rice and wheat.
Shrinithya from government High School Brahmavar and Keerthana Bailoor praised the government for supplying daily milk and Shoes for all the students. The minister said that from the next academic year the government will introduce the supply of milk for six days.
Student Keerthan praised the government for providing Pravasa Bhagya for school children. The scheme has helped students to know the tourist places in Karnataka.
Mumtaz from Bailoor Karkala beneficiary of Bidayi scheme shared her experience and said that the scheme was very helpful to poor girls of the Muslim community.
Sudeep who is pursuing engineering course at MIT Manipal said that without Vidyasiri scheme, he would not have been able to pursue higher education. He thanked the State government for extending help for students from the economically weaker sections.
The beneficiaries of Manaswini underlined the need for enhancing the pension from Rs 500 to Rs. 1000, while members of the milk producers’ union wanted the incentive to be increased by one rupee.
Earlier minister Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with Priyanka Mary Francis Deputy commissioner, Narasimmamoorthy president UUDA, Janardhan Thonse member Zilla panchayat, Rohini deputy director for information department and others were present.
Later speaking on the occasion Pramod Madhwaraj lauded the government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for its various pro-poor schemes. The Congress government is committed to making Karnataka a hunger-free state. When Siddaramaiah took charge as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he had announced the Anna Bhagya scheme in which the poor are supplied free rice. Today the beneficiaries are getting 7 kg of rice per person, as against the 5 kg provided earlier.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is committed to upholding equality and social justice. Pramod claimed that the Congress government was for “all” and did not create welfare schemes keeping particular communities in mind. Beneficiaries of the government’s various social welfare schemes felt that the benefits should reach more people and highlighted the need to increase the quantum of benefits, he added.
