However, a different kind of litter was found in the animal sanctuary earlier this week. Netravati, the Royal Bengal Tigress has once again given birth to four healthy cubs.

The cubs have opened their eyes and are being nurtured by the mother tigress. In the previous case in 2014, she had given birth to two cubs, Akshay and Manju, who are now all grown up and healthy.

Akshay and Manju were adopted by Manoj Shetty, Saju Neliyar and Subbanna Shetty. Her other cub, Krishna, was adopted by former state minister J Krishna Palemar. It was later sent to Surat Zoo as part of animal exchange programme.

The first two months ae critical for the newborn cubs in terms of hazards of contracting infection, only the caretakers of the animal are allowed to monitor the cubs.

Visitors will be allowed once the cubs are vaccinated and fit to be exhibited.
