Bengaluru: In 8 hours, bike-borne chain snatchers rob four women

Bengaluru: Bike-borne thieves snatched gold chains from four women in Yeshwantpur, Yelahanka, Amruthahalli and Vijayanagar police limits on Sunday.

6.45 am, Yeshwantpur

Two bike-borne miscreants relieved a 55-year-old woman of her gold chain at Divanarapalya under Yeshwantpur police limits.

According to police, the victim Anupama was drawing rangoli in front of her house. Two persons came on a bike, the pillion rider got down from the vehicle, walked towards Anupama and snatched her gold chain. The victim raised an alarm, and by the time her family members could come out of the house, the duo had fled.

7 am, Yelahanka

In the second incident reported at Maruthi Nagar under Yelahanka police limits, two persons on the pretext of enquiring about houses for rent snatched away a gold chain from the 62-year-old woman and fled on bike.

According to the police, two unidentified persons came on a bike and stopped in front of the victim Radha’s house. While the pillion rider was enquiring about houses for rent in the locality, the bike rider snatched her gold chain weighing 15 gram and the duo escaped. The victim informed the police that the person was talking in Hindi.

7.40 am, Amruthahalli

An elderly woman was robbed of her gold chain at Coffee Board Layout in Amruthahalli. The victim Rajini Kumari (65), who was out on her morning walk, was accosted by two bike-borne persons.

The pillion rider relieved Rajini Kumari of her 80-gram gold chain and fled from the spot. As the miscreant pulled the chain, Kumari lost her balance and fell down, suffering minor injuries. The passersby rushed to her help after the victim raised alarm.

2.15 pm, Vijayanagar

A 54-year-old woman was relieved of her gold chain weighing 65 gram by two bike-borne thieves.

The incident occurred when the victim, Jayalakshmamma, was walking back home after buying groceries. She raised an alarm and the passersby made a vain effort to pin down the thieves.

The police said that they are examining the CCTV footage and are trying to gather information about the registration number of the bikes which were used for the offence. The cases have been registered in respective police stations and investigations are on.
