Bengaluru: The silver jubilee celebration of Kumaraswamy Layout Brahmana Seva Sangha was inaugurated by Akhila Bharata Brahmana Sabha’s former president Dr K P Putturaya in Shri Shivanubhava auditorium of Shri Bhavanishankar temple in Vasantapur on Sunday.
The current president of the organization, Dr B N V Subrahmanya, Bengaluru south constituency’s MLA M Krishnappa, R Lakshmikant, G Manjunath Mayya and other community leaders were present on the occasion.
In his opening speech, Dr Putturaya said that for decades the Brahmins had been deprived of their legitimate opportunities in the name of reservations.
Brahmins could be a minority in number but they were in majority in talents and scholarship, he said. As a proof, he cited that out of the Kannadiga recipients of Gyan Pith awards, six were Brahmins. In addition, the contribution of Brahmins to the field of science, education, music and the like was enormous, he added.
However, the various governments which were in power over the decades had only cheated the Brahmins of the their rightful share in opportunities and benefits, he further said.
