Bengaluru: Corona warriors attacked in Padaryanapura
Bengaluru (BM): Over 100 people gathered on the streets of Padarayanapura on Sunday night and began breaking the barricades.
The residents were protesting against the officials and even assaulted them after they were asked to be quarantined. BBMP officials, ASHA workers and police were on duty at the spot and had gone there to bring 58 persons who were suspected to be Covid-19 positive for quarantine. The people refused to cooperate and started crowding up.
The protests began when the officials had already sent 15 of these persons to the hospital.
The residents allegedly demanded the presence of the MLA to follow their instructions and cooperate for further check ups.
As the remaining persons were being checked, over 100 people gathered and started vandalising the police barricades. They allegedly assaulted the officials and started removing all the barricades and went on a rally.
Senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner, rushed to the spot and tried to control the crowd.
DCP (West) Ramesh Banoth said that the residents had created a ruckus and vandalised government property demanding the staff to carry out the check up in the same area with the presence of MLA and refused to go to the hospital.
“They vandalised the police barricades. We are verifying the CCTV footage and strict action will be taken against them,” he said.
