Bengaluru: Neha Shetty, who had won the Miss Mangaluru 2014 title and also Miss South India Runner-up tag, has been chosen to play the leading lady opposite Ganesh, the Golden Star, in the forthcoming movie, ‘Mungaru Male 2’.
Neha is the daughter of B Hariraj Shetty and Dr Nimmi Shetty couple based in Bengaluru.
The first movie created a sensation with fresh faces like Pooja Gandhi, breath-taking location shooting and refreshing kind of music by Mano Murthy. It catapulted Ganesh, originally called Preetam, as a big-time star from his lesser known ‘Comedy Time’ status on a Kannada TV channel. Director Yogaraj Bhat too got a firm footing with this movie.
Director Shashank, who was planning to do a sequel to this blockbuster, got the muhurat of the second edition with quite a bit of fanfare a few months ago. But he had not zeroed on the female lead. The search has ended with Neha Shetty, who has just passed her II PU examinations, getting the final nod for the heroine’s role.
Neha does not have cinematic or theatrical exposure as yet, but has done only a few commercials. But at the auditions, she is said to have done commendably well, much beyond the director’s expectations.
Her choice for the leading role in the forthcoming movie has reportedly made other movie-makers to sit up and take note. However, she intends to concentrate on the sole movie on hand and think of others only later.
