Bengaluru (DHNS): The killers of sub-inspector (SI) S Jagadish were arrested at the Nagpur railway station on Monday evening. The accused, Harish Babu and Madhu, had boarded a train bound for New Delhi.
ADGP (law and order) Alok Mohan told Deccan Herald that on receiving specific inputs about the duo, a message was flashed to the Nagpur Police and the Nagpur Railway Police.
“The accused had escaped to Hyderabad after the crime. Our teams were constantly tracking their movement and found that they had boarded a train in Hyderabad. With joint efforts from the Karnataka and Maharashtra police, especially Nagpur Police, the accused have been arrested,” he said.
Sources said the accused had planned to reach Delhi and also continue to remain on the run. The State police had sent the photos of the accused to the Nagpur Police who discreetly searched the bogies and managed to trace the accused.
The notorious vehicle-lifters had stabbed Jagadish to death on October 16 in Nelamangala. Jagadish, SI of Doddaballapura police station, had gone to a two-wheeler showroom in Nelamangala along with four constables on specific information about the accused.
After killing Jagadish, the duo decamped with the slain SI’s revolver. A constable, Venkatesh Murthy, also sustained stab injuries. DGP and IGP Om Prakash said that Rs 50 lakh will be handed over to Jagadish’s family on Thursday.
