Beyond Trolls’ Reach, Glen Rebello’s Drones Rule the Skies
Udupi: As drone Prathap is being trolled all over the State, here is an amusing story of budding talent in the coastal town of Udupi. Glen Rebello, Moodublle who has, in fact, produced a drone with assembled parts. Glen Rebello’s Drone is not being trolled since it flies to its full capacity.
Glen’s fascination for flying started with his interest in the mighty aeroplanes flying in the sky and later the drones utilized for filming weddings. Fascination turned into reality when Glen assembled his Drone.
He nurtured his dreams at his tender age when he was in 9th Standard, with the toy parts available, he prepared his first Drone which didn’t fly. Glen was not shattered but started studying about drones, did research on drones browsed the net, websites and social media platforms. He later started searching for the drone parts and also estimated the cost, the cost of the drone motor was rupees 8000. He utilized the funds from his scholarship and pocket money given by his parents and also relatives and procured the material for assembling the Drone. Following his 10th Standard studies, his mother made sure Glen would concentrate on his studies. Meanwhile, Glen had intensified his interest to produce his Drones.
Following his passion towards studies, he scored 85.6% of marks in 10th Standard. As soon as his examinations concluded, Glen started his venture on producing the Drone, his second attempt also failed, but he made sure that his dreams were not shattered.
He connected to a drone enthusiast Ashcarter, from the United Kingdom who further nurtured Glen’s interest in drones. Glen later procured other required materials from England, his uncle, Anil D’Souza who is working in England, helped to source the materials from England. With the materials purchased from England and Glen’s dedication and sheer hard work, Glen realized his dream of flying the Drone to its full capacity with the third attempt.
Glen did not limit his drone work just for the visual world while he introduced himself to the world of drone racing. His first drone race was held in Manipal. The standard drones were flying at the speed of 50/60Km per hour while the specialized racing drones were flying at a rate of 180/220 km per hour, Glen further ventured in producing racing drones and found enormous success.
Glen has produced 22 drones, the fascination later turned to a hobby and now to entrepreneurship. The initial instalment for an imported drone is rupees 1 lakh while a drone assembled by using similar materials is rupees 32,000. Glen has also developed drone repair skills during this course and has been consulted by videographers from the twin districts. Following the news of his Drone production, he has been consulted by people from Bollywood in Mumbai.
He has scored 72.5% in the recently published PUC results and is gearing up to pursue his further studies in Aeronautic Engineering in Manipal. He is also involved in manufacturing customized drones for agricultural activities. Glen further adds, I have not invented any new thing, while I have prepared drones with the available information materials, I will also try to research further in this area.
Following his talent and zeal in drones, Army Yachting Node and Yachting Association of India had invited him for the filming of the International Sail India competition.
His mother Gladys Rebello is proud of her son for his success at his young age. She is also worried about his future goals but hopes a better future for Glen’s passion in the production of Drones.
