Bharat Seva Dal Observes Gandhi Jayanti
Mangaluru: Bharat Seva Dal in association with Information and public Relation department and Public Education department jointly celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, the birthday of the “Father of the Nation” – Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, at the Gandhi park, near Town Hall here, on October 2.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Jagadeesha hoisted the flag and flagged off the rally from Jyothi circle which culminated at the Gandhi Park. The programme began with an invocation. Bharat Seva Dal President Basheer Baikampady welcomed the gathering.
Kasargod Emmakaje Madan Master was felicitated on the occasion. ADC Kumar released the book ‘Namma Grama, Namma Yojane’, related to Gandhiji on the occasion.
Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar garlanded the statue of the Mahatma along with other dignitaries while the children were shouting slogans praising Gandhi.
Chandra Sekhar speaking on the occasion said that we should follow Gandhiji’s principles and ideas of peace and adopt them as a way of life. We got freedom because of the sacrifice of our leaders. If we want to retain it, we should follow the teachings of Gandhiji.
President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura briefed on the significance of Gandhi Jayanti. ADC Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
SP Bhushan Borase, ADC Kumar, Tahasildar Mahadev, MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazir, Information Officer Khader Shah, Ismail, Alban Franco, Prabhakar Sriyan, Sadananda Perla and others were also present on the occasion. Information officer Khader Shah compered the programme.
