Bhaskar Shetty Murder: accused wife and son approach HC for bail

Udupi: After the rejection of bail application in the District session court, Prime accused Rajeshwari Shetty and Navaneeth Shetty in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case move the bail application in High Court.

The bail application had come up for hearing before the single judge bench of Justice S C Dinesh Kumar, on Wednesday February 1. The single bench judge conducted the hearing and adjourned it to February 13.

The District and Sessions Court rejected the bail application of Rajeshwari Shetty on December 28 by giving the reason that it affected the interests of the society and would have an adverse affect on social and family life.

Bhaskar Shetty, an Hotelier of Udupi, had gone missing from his house on July 28, and his mother Gulabi Shetty had lodged a missing persons complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29.

The police arrested Rajeshwari Shetty and their son, Navneet on charges of murder on August 7.

The state government has appointed senior Advocate K Shantharam Shetty as Special Public Prosecutor to appear before the court in connection with the Bhaksar Shetty murder case. The appointment was made on the request of Bhaksar Shetty’s mother Gulabi Shetty and family. The high court ordered stay on Shetty’s appointment of Special Public Prosecutor in Bhaksar Shetty Murder case.
