Bhaskar Shetty Murder Case, Accused Niranjan Bhat gets Conditional Interim Bail
Udupi: Niranjan Bhat accused in the murder of entrepreneur Bhaskar Shetty, who was in jail for four years, has been granted conditional interim bail by District and Sessions court on June 24.
Srinivas Bhat (65), the father of accused Niranjan Bhat, had expired two days back, due to depression. Therefore, Niranjan Bhat’s advocate had filed a bail application to conduct the religious rituals of his deceased father. The district court after hearing the arguments of the lawyers granted the conditional bail till July 7, and has asked Niranjan Bhat to furnish a personal bond of Rs 5,00,000.
NRI businessman Bhaskar Shetty went missing from his house here on 28 July 2016. His mother Gulabi Shetty lodged a missing person’s complaint on July 29. The police arrested his wife Rajeshwari, her son Navaneeth and astrologer Niranjan Bhat on the charge of murdering Bhaskar Shetty and destroying the evidence, in Udupi on August 7, 2016.
