Bhatkal Police Arrest Two, Seize Gold Worth Rs 60 Lakh and Rs 61 Lakh Cash
Bhatkal: The Bhatkal police have arrested two persons and seized gold ornaments and cash from their possession at Hoovina Chowka Cross here on August 6.
The arrested have been identified as Mahadev Patil (33) and Sanjay Deshmukh from Hubballi.
According to the police, on August 5 late night, both the accused were on their way to Bhatkal from Hubballi. When they reached near Hoovina Chowka cross, the Bhatkal police got suspicious and stopped their car for checking.
While checking, the police found gold biscuits weighing 1.5 kg, 8 gold coins and Rs 61 lakh cash in the car. The police seized the gold biscuits, gold coins, Rs 61 Lakh cash, the car worth Rs 10 lakh and two mobile phones from their possession. Further investigation is on in this regard.
