Bhatkal: A rare turtle was found in the Arabian sea in Bhatkal taluk here.
Subbaya Naik, a guard at the Sea Turtle Centre in Jali, rescued the turtle from the attack of stray dogs and brought it to his house. It has been kept in a salt water tank in his house.
It is red in colour and weighs about 10 kg. These kinds of turtles are usually found in the Atlantic Ocean, Gourish Padukone, an expert on sea turtles told press persons here.
Bhatkal Forest team released it into the Arabian Sea. On the occasion, CCF NL Shantakumar, DFO Ramesh, ACF Nandish L, RFO GV Naik and Ganapati (IFS) were present.
