Bhatkal: Ritesh Bhatkal was elegance personified during his 52-ball 88 and took a four-wicket haul as Assadullah notched up a 37-run win over Lion Bhatkal in their final match of Assadullah Trophy 2015 here at Kola Anfa Ground, Bhatkal on Sunday.
Ritesh Bhatkal smashed three sixes and eight fours and also put on a whirlwind partnership of 60 runs off just 38 balls with Shazeer (29) to power hosts to a 188 for six in front of a packed Stadium.
Chasing a daunting 189 to win, Lion put up a spirited fight but lacked firepower to cross the finish line.
Nawar(24), Altaf (24), and Noorus Sadiqeen(26) contributed some runs under pressure but that only helped Lion muster 151 for eight in 20 overs.
Earlier, Asadullah won the toss and elected to bat first. Along with Ritesh Bhatkal, Shazeer(29), Ismail(22) and Rasique(16) contributed to reach a modest total of 188.
Assadullah added 42 runs in the last two overs. Towards the end Ismail swung his bat to smash three sixes while making an unbeaten 22 in just 10 balls.
Qasim and Ritesh Bhatkal were the most successful bowlers for the Assadulah with figures of 3 for 18 and 2 for 25.
The match officials, scorers, commentators, Volunteers were felicitated by the guests. Assadulah Association Bhatkal, felicitated, the Ritesh Bhatkal, who represented Bellary Tuskers in Karnataka Premier League and Sameer momin of Azaad for retiring from Cricket.
The winners Assadullah were presented with trophy and purse of Rs 50,000, while runner-up Lion Bhatkal was awarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
At the Prize distribution ceremony, Presided by Asadulah Association President Inayatullah Shabandri, while guests were General Secretary Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation Moulana Mohammed Irfan SM Nadvi, Ishwar Naik, Irshad Siddiqua, Budiya Abdul Qadir, Nayeem Motiya, Mohammed Sadique Matta, Jafar Hyder, Ihtisham and many others were present.
