Bhatkal: Yenepoya University, Mangaluru, won the State Level open Football Tournament defeating host BIFA (Bhatkal Inter Football Association) by 3-0 in the final at the Taluka Stadium (YMSA Ground), Bhatkal on Sunday.
In the final match, Yenepoya’s Shehin Mohammed claimed the first dramatic 17th-minute goal, second goal was scored by Ansari V at 25 minutes on the clock and final goal by Vinu K at 34th minute.
A total of 18 teams fought for the grand championship in the tournament which was held in the Taluka YMSA ground since the last 4 days.
The winners Yenepoya University were awarded a cash prize of 20,001 with a trophy whereas the runners up Host BIFA were awarded 10,001 rupees including a trophy.
Individual players were also awarded prizes for their performance. The Best Goalkeeper award was given to Nasif Siddiqua of team BIFA, The Best Defender was awarded to Nabeel from team Anjuman Institute of technology and Management, Bhatkal. Samaan of Beetles Gangoli, Kundapur was named as the Best Striker while Shaaniz of Yenepoya University was awarded with the Best Play maker award.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony was honoured by the presence of Moulana Ansar Madani (Imam, Millya Masjid, senior lecturer, Jamia Islamia Bhatkal); President Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation, Imtiyaz Udayawar; JDS leader, Inayatullah Shabanadri; Anjuman College Secretary Javeed Hussain Armar; Gayathri, ex-PLD; Bank President, Ishwar Naik; Social worker, Nazeer Kashimji; Physical Director, Irshad Mukku and Kaleemullah; Ameen Momim, Saleem Merchant, Aheed Mohtisham, Maawaiya Mohtisham, Ganim, Mashallah, Isthiaque Ruknuddin, Yahya Hallare, Daiyan Ruknuddin, Masood Barmwar and many others were present.
