New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS) Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who made her Bollywood debut with “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, says as an actor she would not want to stick to one genre and that she is “greedy” for trying different roles in films.

Asked whether she would like to try other genres in films, Bhumi told IANS over phone from Mumbai: “I actually haven’t thought about it. For me, it’s like each script as it comes… But as an actor I would not want to stick to one genre because I am an extremely greedy actor.

“I want to do different type of roles, experiment with myself and push boundaries. I really hope that I get the opportunity in the future.”

Bhumi won a Filmfare Award for the Best Debut Actress earlier this month. However, she admits she is “not feeling any pressure”.

“I know there are a lot of expectations, but that energy to me is more motivating. I’m more motivated to do better and I hope I can surpass my performance as Sandhya, the character that I did in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’… I can surpass and become Rumi in ‘Manmarziyan’.”

Bhumi is currently prepping for her next release “Manmarziyan”, directed by Sameer Sharma who had previously directed the 2012 comedy film “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana”.

The film also features her “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” co-star Ayushmann Khurrana.

Tagging “Manmarziyan” as a “classic love story”, Bhumi says her character in the film is a 23-year-old named Rumi who has lived in Punjab all her life.

“It’s very relevant to what love is today and how love changes you. And the girl is happy, peppy and blunt to the face, but at the same time very stable and mature,” she said.
