Big Catch by Udupi Police, Drugs Worth Rs 73.39 lakh Seized in Two Weeks
Udupi: As part of ithe ongoing crackdown on the drug menace in the state, the Udupi district police seized Rs 73.39 lakh worth Synthetic drugs and arrested four persons during the last two weeks said N Vishnuvardhan Superintendent of Police Udupi district.
Speaking at a press meet held at the SP office Vishnuvardhan said that, in the last two weeks the police have seized Rs 73,39,500 worth Synthetic drugs in three separate cases and arrested four persons.
Under the leadership of Kumarachandra Additional SP, the district police have formed three teams to curb the drug menace. The technical team included Hariram Shanker ASP Kundapur, Bharath S Reddy ASP Karkala and district SP office staff Shivananda, Nithin and Dinesh.
The operation team included Manjunath M PSI Manipal, Rajshekar Vandali PSI Manipal, Manipal Station staff Shailesh, Prasanna, Thomson, Abdul Razak, Adarsh, Salman Khan and Kundapur station staff Vijay Kumar, Raju and Sathish.
The investigation team included T R Jaishaner DySP Udupi, Ananthapadmanabha CPI Brahmavar, Mahesh Prasad CPI Kaup, Manjunath CPI Udupi, Manjappa D R CPI DCIB and Raghavendra PSI Brahmavar.
All the three teams with their joint operations succeed in seizing the Synthetic drugs and arresting four persons.
The teams seized drugs worth Rs 73.39 lakhs, including 1019 MDMA Ecstasy tablets worth Rs 30.57 lakhs, 1000 LSD Stamps worth Rs 30 Lakhs, Brown Sugar Worth Rs 3 lakh and 131 grams of Superior quality Hydro weed Ganja worth Rs 9.82 lakh. The arrested persons were allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the city and mainly supplying drugs to the student community in the city.
In all three raids, Madhu CPI ISD unit, Nagraj Assistant Drug Controller and Pradeep Kurdekar Thashildar Udupi have given their whole hearted support.
In the last five years, this year the highest quantiy of narcotices were seized and 209 cases were also registered in the district. Apart from the Ganja cases, for the first time in the history of the district police have seized synthetic drugs, he said.
