Bhaskar Poojary president of the unit addressing the mediapersons at a press meet held at the press club on Friday, August 19 said that the whole family was dependent on Praveen and he still cannot believe that his son has been killed. He said that his son was innocent and did not even harm an ant. The people in the village would approach Praveen for help and he would never say no to anyone. Whenever there was a problem, Praveen would be there to help the needy, he said wiping the tears.

Praveen was running a chicken farm, and also owned a mini truck. On August 17 night a person approached him to rent his vehicle to transport calves for which he readily agreed. A group of 25 Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists, aged between 20 to 25, attacked Praveen and Akshay. Later they dumped Praveen near his house and informed the police. The Barhamvar Police, who arrived at the spot, shifted him to the hospital where Praveen Poojary breathed his last. Akshay Devadiga who was along with Praveen was also injured and his condition is said to be stable.

Bhaskar Poojary appreciated the swift action of the police. After the incident, the police arrested 17 persons. The main person who led the attack, Aravind Sherigar was also arrested. Praveen Poojary had plans of getting married soon. Working hard, he had earned enough money to realize his plans. People who could not tolerate his progress have killed him, alleged Bhaskar Poojary.

He demanded a fair probe into the incident to ensure that such incidents do not spread to other parts of the district. The government should announce compensation to the family members of Praveen Poojary on humanitarian grounds, he added.

Venkatesh Suvarna ex-president, Sanjeeva Masthar, working president, Ravi Marali youth wing president were present in the press meet.
