Bishop Aloysius Blesses St Teresa Statue, MLA J R Lobo Inaugurates Mother Teresa Road
Mangaluru: To mark the sainthood of Mother Teresa, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr Aloysius D’Souza blessed the statue of St Teresa at the Mother Teresa’s Home, Sturrock Road, Falnir here on September 4.
The programme began with an invocation. Superior of Mother Teresa Home Sr Bernadetta welcomed the gathering.
Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza addressing the gathering said that Saint means Holy. A Saint is one who believes in Jesus Christ and follow his teachings. Men and women who followed Christ and were transformed, they are different from other men and women. Thus they are considered Holy.
The Bishop further said that Mother Teresa served the poor and the neglected in the society. She sacrificed her life for the poor by giving them a new lease of life. Today she has been canonized and declared as Saint. Hereafter Mother Teresa will be known as Saint Teresa. She will always pray for us and she will be very near to us in our every need.
Later Bishop Aloysius blessed the Statue of Saint Teresa. The Statue of Saint Teresa was taken in a procession from Sturrock road to the Milagres Church.
MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the Mother Teresa Road by unveiling the plaque. Bishop Dr Aloysius later celebrated the mass along with other priests.
