Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha Celebrates First Holy Mass at Rosario Cathedral
Mangaluru: The newly ordained Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha celebrated first Holy mass at the Rosario Cathedral here on September 16.
Prior to the mass Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was received at the entrance gate of the Rosario Cathedral. Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral Fr J B Crasta welcomed the Bishop with a floral bouquet. Later the Bishop was taken in a procession to the Cathedral along with the priests and parishioners accompanied by the brass band.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by the Bishop along with Msgr Xavier D Fernandes, V G Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr J B Crasta and other priests.
In his homily, Bishop Dr Peter Paul said, “If anyone sends us SMS or message on WhatsApp and if we do not know the person who sent us the message, we will ask “Who is this?”. During the time of Jesus, a similar incident happened and people asked about Jesus, who was he and where did he come from? Jesus had then asked the people who am I? Some said he is the healer, some said he is the son of God and Peter had said: “He is Christ”. We should follow in the footsteps of our elders. Good deeds and faith should go hand in hand.”
Bishop further said, “Most of the people are watching TV to kill their free time. Instead of watching the TV let us go through the Bible which is available on Youtube. The Cross is the only Key to heaven. If we want to go to the heaven only the Cross can take us there. The keys of the Cross will open the doors to heaven.”
Later a felicitation programme for the newly ordained Bishop was held at the Rosario Cathedral.
