Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius inaugurates Two-day Rosary Exhibition at Milagres

Mangaluru: A two-day Rosaries and Konkani Marian literature exhibition was inaugurated at the Milagres Jubilee Hall here on September 29.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza by flashing the colours on the portrait of Immaculate Heart of Mary sketched by the famous artist Shabari Ganiga.

Former MLA J R Lobo was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering Lobo said, “Whatever the problem the mother faces, she never abandons her children similarly our heavenly mother is always there to listen to our grief and pain. Even I have faced many official issues but the daily rosary helped me to face all the hurdles that came in my way. The present generation is not reciting the rosary also only a very few families recite the rosary in their houses which has led the faith to become shallow. This exhibition will surely inspire Catholics to recite the rosary in their families”.

Lobo appreciated Sabhu Kaithar who has more than 60 thousand collections of rosaries, crosses and statues of mother Mary. He was overwhelmed with the drawing of Mother Mary by Shabari Ganiga and said, “Unless and until one contemplates on Mary, they cannot draw such a masterpiece”.

Addressing the gathering Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius quoted St John Paul II and his devotion to Mother Mary which is an inspiration to all Catholics. Praying the Rosary saves us as it saved St John Paul II. Contemplate the face of Jesus by reciting the mysteries of the Rosary. Marian literature that is exhibited in the venue reminds of how spiritual literature helps to strengthen the Catholic faith.

Dr Aloysius congratulated the Rector of Rosario Cathedral Fr J B Crasta for his initiative in organizing the year of the Rosary in memory of 450 years of the Rosario Cathedral. Dr Aloysius congratulated Shabari Ganiga for her talents in drawing such a beautiful portrait of Immaculate Heart of Mary and blessed her.

The exhibition is open for the public from 29 to 30 September from 9 am to 8 pm at the Milagres Jubilee hall. Sabhu Kaithar who has made the Limca Record in his collection of 50000 Rosaries from various countries, more than 500 statues of Mother Mary and a variety of crosses will be exhibiting them in the hall. The Gold Rosary, diamond rosary, white gold Rosary and Rosaries used by saints are the centre of attraction of the Rosary exhibition.
