In his message Bishop Gerald said that our long pending dream has come true today. The Diocese has decided to open CBSE schools in all five deaneries. In Udupi and Kundapur we have already started the CBSE Schools. Today we have laid the foundation stone for the school in Shirva, in the coming days we will start such schools in Kallinapur and Karkala. Our aim is for our students to face the competitive world effectively. The basic education provided to children in the initial stages provides a strong foundation for the future years. It is necessary to prepare children to face the world. A strong foundation, noble thoughts and self-confidence enable children to be successful. When educational institutes are able to shape children as citizens with good character who work for the prosperity of the country, the aim of the schools is accomplished, he added.

Fr Lawrence D’Souza secretary of Catholic Education Society said that on September 4 mother Teresa was proclaimed as a saint. When she had started her work, she had just 5 rupees in her pocket and today her sisters are working all over the world. From a tiny seed, a mighty tree has grown. In Shirva too we are starting our work like a tiny seed without any money. Whenever we start good work which is beneficial for the place God will not let us down.

Our only aim is to provide value based education for students in and around the place. We need to change with time. NEET is the entrance test for courses like medical, dental etc, and is conducted by the CBSE board. Those who follow this syllabus will find it easy. Our students should come up in life, they should join professional courses, and our duty is to prepare them, he added.

Fr Mahesh D’Souza (Principal of the School), Fr Canute (Assistant Parish Priest Shirva), Fr Felix Serrao (Rector Don Bosco Youth Center Shirva), Wilson D’Souza (Vice president PPC), Wilson Rodrigues (ZP member Shirva), William Machado (Secretary PPC) were present.

Ireen Rodrigues delivered the vote of thanks while Perl Noronha compered the programme.
