Bishop Gerald Shares the Spirit and Joy of Christmas with Journalists

Udupi: Christmas season is one of those days that just seems to be filled with cheer and wonder. Whether you are celebrating a fun-filled or religious Christmas, your day is sure to be filled with happiness. Celebrating Christmas with friends and colleagues is the best thing one can ever do during the Christmas time. And with that Christmas spirit in mind, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, organised a “Christmas Get-together” with media persons of Udupi on Wednesday, December 21 at the Bishop’s House.

Fr Denis D’Sa, Public Relations Officer of Udupi Diocese, welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo by cutting the Christmas cake along with Veronica Cornelio (CNBC Sarthak Naari Award winner), Rohini (Information and Broadcasting officer of the district), Ganesh Prasad Pandelu (Secretary Udupi district working Journalists association), Fr Denis D’Sa (PRO Udupi) and Michael Rodrigues (Media Coordinator Udupi Diocese)

On behalf of Udupi Diocese Veronica Cornelio who has won the CNBC TV18 Sarthak Nari Award was felicitated by the Bishop.

Bishop Gerald in his presidential message said that Love happiness, peace and joy are the symbols of Christmas, which should prevail over the society in all walks of the life. Peace and love should emerge from our hearts only then will it leave a huge impact on the society. Christmas is a ray of hope for the devastated, the distribution of our resources among the poor is the essence of celebrating Christmas.

Christmas is like celebrating unity among diversity. Jesus Christ’s birth symbolizes equality. Christmas is a collaboration of love, peace and harmony. Celebrating Christmas by proclaiming love and peace for humanity which is suppressed by atrocities, terrorism, fear, wars, and clashes makes real sense.

Christmas is a festival of experiencing god’s love. It strengthens our relationship with god. Christmas bridges the gap between relationships. When humanity is at stake, Jesus is the ray of hope to strengthen human values. Christmas is a festival of independence, peace, patriotism and morality.

Love and peace will prevail over the issues haunting nations, love and peace should prevail over the world, he added.
