Bishop Invited for ‘Gauyatra Mahamangala’ of ‘MangalaGauyaatra’
Mangaluru: The auspicious valedictory ceremony of the “MangalaGauyaatra” will be held at Mangalabhoomi, Kuloor-Mangaluru on 28 and 29 January 2017. This unique Gauyaatra, touching millions of hearts, traveling through seven states, where a thousand Saints and a million Gaupremi’s are coming together to this great festival, to raise their voice, once again for the cause for the protection of Gau Mata, the indigenous cows.
During the programmes, experts from all around the Globe will be presenting their papers in the unique conference; there will be exhibitions on cow-centered life; Art performances presenting the importance of Gau Mata; Food festival of Desi cows’ milk and milk products; Thrilling bullock cart ride; Exhibition and ale of Gavya products; Worshipping Gau Mata in all possible ways to make the lives of people blissful; Processions and celebrations to bring the feeling of fulfillment in people’s hearts- this event is going to be an unique confluence of many specialties. Members of Havyaka Brahmin Community, who are the followers of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamathanam-Sri Samsthana Gokarna Sri Ramachandrapuramatha visited the Bishop’s House on Kodailbail Road-Mangaluru to invite Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese for the valedictory ceremony on 29 January 2016, and the Bishop accepted their invitation and assured them of his gracious presence, unless any last minute commitment comes by. The members of the Gauyaatra also requested the Bishop to spread the word of this event to rest of the Catholic faithful, for which the Bishop said that he will convey it through the parish priests. The members were happy with the Bishop’s kind gesture and support.
Speaking during the interaction with the Bishop, Vidya Aravind- Joint Secretary of Gramodaya, Surathkal said, “This is a great campaign towards protecting Indigenous breeds of cow. This is Gauyaatra towards awakening the conscience to protect the indigenous breeds of the cow for the future of the world. This is the festival of Gaupremis whose hearts are filled with love, compassion and respect for Gau Mata. Mangal Panday, who raised his voice and sacrificed himself for Gau Mata, is the inspiration behind this Gauyaatra organized by Sri Samsthana. So please do come and involve in the Yaatra, and let us all together protect the Gau Mata, and let’s revive our life through this noble cause”.
Addressing the group Bishop Dr Aloysius P D’Souza said, “We should all know that Gau Mata (Cow) is the backbone of agriculture, and it has contributed largely to the economy. The greatness of the cow has been reformulated in different art forms, and it is an integral part of human life. The cow has marked her presence in history too, and even scientific discoveries have acknowledged the greatness of Gau Mata. It is nice to note that the Havyaka Brahmin Community is organizing this Yaatra to bring awareness of protecting indigenous cows.”
“Our past greatness and our future hope were not, and cannot, be based on wealth, nor the worship of materialism. That will let us down again and again.
