Bitcoin Mastermind Kavitha Arrested for Cheating Investors, Rs 4.05 Crore Worth Valuables Seized
Karkala: The Chikkamagaluru police have arrested 13 persons including a woman in the Bitcoin deal scam from Kaduhole, Ajekar here.
The arrested has been identified as Kavitha Moolya and her associates. Kavitha was the mastermind behind the scam.
According to the police, the Chikkamagaluru police had received many complaints against Kavitha Moolya and her associates about the scam. The victims had invested about Rs 9 to 10 Crores in Bitcoin thinking that they will get good returns.
The Chikkamagaluru police got into action and formed special teams to nab the accused. The team of 30 police from Chikkamagaluru arrested Kavitha Moolya along with her associates at Kaduhole. The police have seized 10 cars worth Rs 4 crores and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh from their possession.
Kavitha was produced before the court where she was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
My bet is that she won’t be punished as much as a man would be in her position …because she is a woman after all. General presumption under the Indian legal system is that man is always presumed to be guilty and the woman innocent.
