BJP Can Only Dream of Making Congress Free state, CM during Party Convention
CM Siddaramaiah Inaugurates Congress Party Convention
Mangaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Udupi districts of Mysuru Division organised the Party Workers Convention at Adyar Garden here on July 7.
The programme began with an invocation. District Congress President Harish Kumar welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the party workers CM Siddaramaiah said, “The BJP is creating Communal violence when the elections are nearing. The BJP has not done anything for the people of this country. They do not have any schemes to go to the people during the election campaign, so they are trying to create communal violence in Dakshina Kannada. In Bantwal there are incidents of innocent youth being killed which have created communal disturbances. In 2008 when Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minister, Churches were attacked in the District.”
Siddaramaiah further said, “Before the elections in our manifesto we had made 165 promises out of which 150 have already been fulfilled. The BJP government did not do anything for the people of this country, they are creating problems in implementing the State government’s schemes and planning to bring Narendra Modi to Karnataka for the election campaign. This is Karnataka and not Uttar Pradesh to play the Hindutva card for vote bank. I have instructed the police to take strict action against those who create communal violence and play with the sentiments of the people.”
Criticising the BJP leader in the waiver of the farmers loan from nationalised banks Siddaramaiah said, “The state government has waived the loan of 22,27,506 farmers. To waive the loan of the farmers in the nationalised banks Yeddyurappa, Shobha Karandlaje, Eshwarappa and myself had gone to Delhi to meet the PM. But the BJP leaders did not open their mouth in front of the PM. Now they have only one way gain the power in the state and that is by creating communal violence”.
“we have only 8 months left for the forthcoming elections. In Dakshina Kannada, we should win all the 8 constituencies, we should pledge that we will not allow the BJP to come to power in the state. In the coming days in every district, we should organise our party workers convention. The people of this state are happy with our schemes and the party workers should not hesitate to guide the people to benefit from the schemes. All the party workers should take the oath to work for the success of the party”.
In a lighter vein CM Siddaramaiah said, “Yeddyurappa says, BJP Nadige Dalitara Manege”, but Yeddyurappa is having hotel food in Dalit’s house. When Yeddyurappa was in power he did not hold any programmes for the Dalit community. Now they are pretending to show concern for the Dalits. The BJP does not have any other slogans other than “Hindu Rastra, Hindutva”. The BJP needs Dalits and the backward classes only for vote bank, but after winning only Sadananda Gowda and Ananth Kumar will be on stage”.
While concluding Siddaramaiah said, “BJP is a dangerous party, and we have to be careful. Modi is a Marketing man. Congress party workers should also be active in the social media and give a befitting reply to the BJP. It is not possible for the BJP to make this state Congress-free”, he added.
Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, KPCC President Dr Parameshwar, Minister for Energy D K Shivakumar and S R Patil also spoke on the occasion. District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai delivered the keynote address. District Minister In-charge of Kodagu Sitaram, Udupi District Minister In-charge Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader, Former ministers Abhayachandra Jain, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, District Congress President Harish and others were also present.
