‘BJP Hand-in-Hand with Illegal Sand Extraction Rampant’- Ex-MLA Mohiuddin Bava
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, former mangaluru North Constituency MLA B A Mohiuddin Bava said, “It looks like illegal sand extraction rampant is hand-in-hand with BJP, and therefore MLA Dr Bharath Shetty has kept quite by not taking any action on illegal sand mining. The illegal sand extraction is going on at Adyar, Meenakaliya, Biakampady, Tannirbhavi, Nayarkudru, and many other locations, and nothing has been done to stop such trade”.
“It is very clear that BJP workers were themselves involved in illegal sand extraction both in CRZ and non-CRZ areas. This illegal activity has reached its peak at a time when construction activity has almost come to a standstill in the past few months, The price of sand has escalated to Rs 18,000 per truck load. I have brought this issue to the notice of Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra, urging him to take immediate action . If the administration fails to act against illegal sand extraction, the Congress workers will organize a massive protest, until the concerned authorities take action, and stop the illegal trade. A complaint will also be lodged with Lokayukta about this illegal sand extraction” added Bava.
