BJP Has no Agenda, Afraid of Congress Popularity – Vishnunath During Party Convention

Congress Party Workers Convention begins at Town Hall

Mangaluru: The Congress Party Workers Convention was held at the Late Mohammed Badruddin Stage, Town Hall here on September 25.

The programme began with an invocation. MLA J R Lobo welcomed the gathering.

The convention was inaugurated by AICC Secretary Vishnunath by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

The congress party leaders remembered Congress Party worker Late Mohammed Badruddin by showering flower petals on his Potrait and also setting the convention stage as Mohammed Badruddin Stage.

In his welcome Address MLA J R Lobo said, “We are organizing the party convention in every constituency to make the people aware of the development work Congress has done during four-and-half years of its governance. The BJP has no agenda to go to the people. BJP leaders are saying that they will make our state Congress free and also the country but it is not possible to make the country Congress free. We will surely win the forthcoming elections in the state. The Congress party workers should visit every house and make the people understand the development works done by the Congress government.”

AICC Secretary Vishnunath was felicitated by MLA J R Lobo and District Minister In-charge B Ramanath Rai. Senior Congress party workers were felicitated and the family members of the departed Congress party workers and leaders were also felicitated on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Vishnunath said, “After becoming the AICC Secretary we had a meeting with the President of the Indian National Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi. In the meeting Rahul Gandhi has given clear instructions to go to every block level, booth-level and take feedback from the booth-level leaders and prepare for the forthcoming meeting. We have already conducted 42 meetings and very few constituencies are pending”.

Vishnunath further said, “When we visit houses during the Mane Manege Congress, I have seen people show much love and affection for MLA Lobo. People treat MLA Lobo as their own family member because Lobo has done a wonderful job in his constituency. The Mane Manege Congress campaign is to propagate our government’s programmes and policies, our government is a model government, after the Congress came to power it has fulfilled all the promises made in the last election manifesto. Indira canteen is also a popular project. We have already implemented 155 promises out of the 165 and soon the remaining promises will be fulfilled. Waiving the farmers loan was not in our manifesto. Siddaramaiah is Uttama, I don’t say Modi is Adama. Modi had assured to bring back the black money from foreign banks and credit Rs 15 lakh to the account of every citizen. Modi had promised to give petrol at the rate of Rs 40 but we are getting half litre petrol for Rs 40. BJP has no agenda and Modi is telling lies. Our CM has delivered whatever he had promised, but the BJP lied to the people. For three years people were listening to Modi thinking that he will do good for the people. Now people have started to question Modi.”

Vishnunath also said, “Congress is a stable government because from the past 4.5 years we have only one CM, but during BJP’s tenure they had changed three Chief Minister’s in five years. Yeddyurappa had gone to jail on corruption charges. Now the BJP has no agenda to go to the people and they are afraid of the Congress popularity. Let the BJP come for an open debate, we are ready for debate on the development work in Karnataka. The BJP is not ready to come for an open debate on development work. BJP had organized the Mangaluru Chalo rally to demand Ramanath Rai’s resignation but Ramanath Rai does not have any charges of corruption against him nor is he involved in any scams. Why should Ramanath Rai resign? In the name of religion, BJP is trying to divide the society. This is the land of Basavanna. Karnataka is not Uttar Pradesh.”

Recalling the three years of Narendra Modi’s governance, Vishnunath said, “Modi has not called for any press conference until now. He has only Mann Ki baath. During the elections his slogan was ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ but after coming to power he is in favour of the rich. Let the party workers join hands together and strengthen the Congress party from the Booth-level. J R Lobo has done wonderful development work in his constituency and he will surely win with a huge margin in the next elections”.

Addressing the gathering working president of the Congress party in Karnataka Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “In Karnataka after the Congress party came to power the government led by CM Siddaramaiah has fulfilled 155 out of 165 promises made in the election manifesto. The remaining 10 will be fulfilled before the completion of the 5-year tenure. From day one of Siddaramaiah becoming the Chief Minister he has implemented schemes for the people of the state. People sometimes get confused when the opposition deliberately criticizes the Congress. The Congress party workers should not hesitate in reaching every house and bringing awareness to the people about the development work done by Congress government. Sometimes our party workers hesitate to tell about the good work done by the party, but we should not hesitate in speaking about the development work done by the Congress government.”

Gundu Rao further said, “The opposition is talking about Dharma, if there is real Dharma they would not have created communal unrest, they would not get involved in corruption. In our country, Hindus, Muslims and Christians were living together in harmony but BJP and the Sangh Parivar has created misunderstanding in the name of Dharma. BJP is misusing the social media. From the past three-and-half years, people were listening to Modi’s Mann Ki Baat but until now no one has benefitted by it. Modi said Development is my mantra and he asked for 60 months but there is no development yet. From past 10 years, the economy in the country was good, but due to demonetization, the GDP has slumped by 2%. There is no job creation. If there is any development in the country it is only in Karnataka. Karnataka is a model state for the country. From past three years, Modi was talking about the smart city but so far funds have not been released. In Dakshina Kannada MLA Lobo is making Mangaluru into a smart city even before getting funds from the Central government.”

Congress leader Saleem Ahmed and District Minister In-charge B Ramanath Rai also spoke on the occasion. MLA Abhaychandra Jain, District congress President Harish Kumar, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, District youth congress president Mithun Rai, Suresh Ballal, Vijaykumar Shetty, P V Mohan, Mamatha Gatti, District Women’s Congress President Shalet Pinto, deputy mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad and others were also present.

The new agenda of the RSS/BJP rulers is to beat the students, especially the girls at one of the well known Universities of India; the Benarus Hindu University where prominent people of the nation like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan had decorated the seat as the Chancellor.

Economically, India is diving too fast, but in social disorder, it is skyrocketing. That is the latest agenda.
