Udupi: The Bharatiya Janata Party Udupi district along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal organised a huge protest in front of the DC office, Manipal on June 6, against the state government for arresting innocent Hindu Activists in cattle trader Husainabba’s death in Perdur on May 30.
In his introductory remarks Sunil K R Mangalore regional convener of Bajrang Dal said, “Our activists had given the information to the Hiriyadka police of cattle being transported illegally. As per the information of our activists, the Hiriyadka SI and his team got into action. Husainabba was suffering from heart problems and may have died due to a heart attack. The exact reason for his death would be known only after the post-mortem report. Hindu activists are in no way related to his death,” he added.
The district administration and police have failed to control the rampant illegal trading of cattle since years, so our activists got involved and acted as informers. He added that in and around Hiriyadka and Perdur, cattle trafficking has drastically increased. He added that nearly 3,000 illegal slaughterhouses work in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district while the only legally permitted slaughterhouse is in Kudroli, wherein 10-12 cattle are killed. The government has completely failed to nab the illegal traffickers and added that, the police are targetting the Sangh Pariwar activists who inform the police about the illegal activities.
Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje said, “In Karnataka, there is no government. The chief minister and the deputy chief minister are handling all the portfolios. For 15 days, all the MLAs were involved in resort politics. They have now left the resort and gone to New Delhi to lobby for the ministers post. All the Congress and JDS MLAs are busy trying to get the ministers post.
After Chief minister, Kumaraswamy took the oath nearly 20 farmers have committed suicide in the state and Kumaraswamy has no time to give compensation to them. In cattle trader Husseinabba’s case the chief minister has immediately called the Udupi DC and SP and instructed them to take action against the Hindu Activists. Earlier the Siddaramaiah government was also targetting the Hindu activists and same is being continued by the Kumaraswamy government.
In Husseinabba’s case the BJP and the Sangh Parivar workers had informed the police about the illegal transportation of cattle. It was the police who had caught him at Perdoor and three of his accomplices had fled from the spot. The police had made Husseinabba sit in the police vehicle. He had died during the 15 to 20-minute journey. It was unfortunately at the behest of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government that the BJP and Sangh Parivar activists are being arrested by the police.
Karandlaje further said, “Rafeeq, who had served as an SI in Hiriyadka in the past, even though had some allegations against him was once again deputed to the Hiriyadka station. He is using foul language against the Hindu activists who wear saffron shawl. The government should transfer Rafeeq immediately from our district.
“The BJP government had banned cow slaughter but Siddaramaiah had revoked it with the help of Governor HR Bharadhwaj and allowed cow slaughter”.
“Hindu activists had handed over Husainabba to the police. He died on way to the police station on the police vehicle. There is a need to find if he had died of heart attack or had any other health issues. The forensic report must be placed before the public and the police should stop arresting innocent Hindu activists,” Shobha demanded.
MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, BJP district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, VHP district president Vilas Nayak also addressed the gathering.
