BJP is dedicated to passing bill on Uniform Civil Code – Dr Subramanian Swamy

Udupi: BJP will effectively pass the bill on Uniform Civil Code in the parliament and if it fails to pass it in the Rajya Sabha a joint session will be conveyed said Economist and MP Rajya Sabha Dr Subramanian Swamy while speaking at a programme organized by the BJP legal cell on Uniform Civil Code at Hotel Kediyoor here on January 28.

Uniform civil code will strengthen the existence of Hindus and will protect the interest of women in the society. 50% of the Muslims are in favour for the Uniform Civil Code. The triple talaq is badly affecting Muslim women, they are also raising their voice for inheritance in the property.

The British divided India sensing our caste division, the division is still prevalent in our society. The bill passed in Britain stressed for Muslim-led Pakistan and Hindu-led India but when it came into force India was turned secular. Jawaharlal Nehru was Anti-Hindu and he was against the Uniform Civil Code. Even Indira Gandhi marched ahead and included secular in the constitution.

Muslims are opposing Uniform Civil Code in India but they are silent on UCC being adopted in America and Australia. When it comes to uniformity Muslims are opposing it while their women are in favour of the UCC.

Ancestors of Muslims here are Hindus and if anyone comes out saying the statement is false I will check their DNA. Muslim dominant areas are creating problems for Hindus, Sharia prevails there, it may be witnessed in Kashmir, Mallapuram and other areas. Congress has divided the majority and united the minority. 30% of the people have voted in our favour and if 40% vote for us, 2/3 majority will strengthen the nation.

Caste division is prevailing over us, we should stop blaming others, we have to be united, he added.

BJP President Mattar Rathnakar Hegde and other BJP leaders were present.
