BJP leaders should Apologise for Irresponsible Statements on Explosive Device and Aditya Rao – Mithun Rai
Mangaluru: “As we all know the recent bomb threat at the Mangaluru International Airport has shocked the entire country. We have seen and read about terrorism, 10 kg of RDX being found in Mangaluru. To pour fuel to fire, BJP leaders Bommai, Prahlad Joshi, Eshwarappa and Renukacharya had given wild statements. Prahlad Joshi said that those who were responsible for the violence in Mangaluru had planted the bomb at the airport, those who protested against the CAA and NRC supported by Congress were responsible for it. Bommai, even before the investigation said that those who involve in terrorism are terrorists, but when the accused was found to be Aditya Rao, without consulting anyone Bommai said that Aditya Rao is mentally ill. Being responsible persons, BJP leaders have given irresponsible statements. Renukacharya, Prahlad Joshi, Eshwarappa and Bommai should apologise to the people of the state for their irresponsible statements”, said the president of District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai during a press meet held at the DCC office here on January 25.
Addressing the mediapersons Mithun Rai said, “As soon as the bomb was detected, the state government called a press meet and targetted a particular community. The Police officers also issued a statement to the media saying that there a bomb in the airport. From 10 am to 5:46 pm the authorities revealed a bomb to the media saying that 10 kg of RDX was found with a timer which was being taken to a safe zone, 15 feet deep pit to be defused. I consulted the matter with a blasting expert and learnt that it was not possible to find 10 kg of RDX in Mangaluru and if the bag contained RDX it was better to blast it. They cannot blast the RDX in a 15 ft deep pit since there will be electrical radiation and more smoke. But those who defused the bomb they did not do it in a 15 feet deep pit. If at all there was RDX Who gave 10 kg of RDX to Aditya Rao? Who is behind Aditya Rao? If there was no RDX, why did they say that there was RDX? Why did the state government say it was a terrorist act? why a particular community was targetted? Who was responsible for this incident? The entire episode was a mock drill. Crime has no caste or religion but vested interest. The statements by these leaders would have led to communal violence between Hindus and Muslims. MP Nalin Kumar should take action against Bommai, Prahlad Joshi, Eshwarappa and Renukacharya”.
Mithun Rai further said, “Development work in Mangaluru has drastically gone down because of such incidents. Students from other states as well as the country are not ready to come to DK to pursue their education. Mangaluru was one of the safest city. But after the police firing and the Bomb scare which parent will allow their children to study here? Mangaluru has been made as an experiment lab. If such a situation continues which IT company, BPO or automobile companies come here? DK Youth Congress along with the Congress party will not allow anyone to turn Mangaluru into a communal city. We will not tolerate such type of incidents as Undivided Dakshina Kannada is popular for peace, harmony, unity and brotherhood. Some anti-social elements are trying to create communal violence. The people of Mangaluru should be popular for good deeds and not for the wrong reasons. In UP and Bihar there was police firing and violence but now we are witnessing it in Mangaluru. We should compete with the metropolitan cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai and not with Bihar and UP”.
Mithun Rai also said, “We are all created by God, man created religions. We should all live in peace and harmony. If the one who planted the bomb was from the other community, the situation in Mangaluru would have been different. In the coming days, BJP leaders should not give such statements to create communal violence for political gain. If the BJP leaders target a particular community, the Congress party will condemn and take necessary measures to avoid it. Every citizen of Mangaluru has the responsibility to avoid such incidents from occurring. We all should be united to fight against the anti-social elements.”
Congress Spokesperson Advocate Vinayraj said, “After BJP came to power in the centre and state, they have targetted a particular community and created fear among them. BJP leader Renukacharya said, “Muslims keep weapons at Mosques’ and made controversial remarks during the pro-CAA rally in Honnali. If the Chief Minister Yediyurappa has real concern about the people of the state, he should sack Renukacharya from the post of political secretary. The congress condemns the statement of Renukacharya for targetting a particular community”.
Vinayraj further said, “In the recent Mangaluru violence and police firing, the police have served notices to many innocent people especially the Muslim community who had come to Mangaluru for personnel work under section 41 CrPC. Why are innocent persons, especially from a particular community targetted? They have served notices based on the Telephone tower information. The police department has created fear among the Muslim community. If there is any proof about the crime, let the police send the notice, if not the Congress party will protest against it. I have received many cases from members of the Muslim community who had come to the City Centre mall and forum mall. Under Section 41 in the Code Of Criminal Procedure, only if the crime is proved notice can be sent.”
