Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the district Congress office here, on April 16.
Addressing the mediapersons, Poojary lashed out at BJP state President Yeddyurappa and said, “Yeddyurappa has been touring the drought hit areas on Rs 1 crore SUV car gifted by former minister Murugesh Nirani and when he was questioned by the mediapersons, he says there is nothing wrong in receiving gifts. Didn’t the BJP criticise the Chief Minister for accepting a costly Hublot watch as a gift?” he questioned.
He further said, “Why is the BJP silent now? With what intention was the car gifted to Yeddyurappa? Isn’t it his moral duty to give an answer to the public? Yeddyurappa says the car is for his security purpose. Mr Yeddyurappa, don’t worry about your safety as nobody wants to hurt you. The opposition is actually very happy that you have been appointed as the state BJP President.”
Poojary said, “Yeddyurappa had criticised BJP and its leaders when he had defected to KJP from BJP. He found all the BJP leaders to be bad. All BJP leaders who came to congratulate you like Anant Kumar, Jagadish Shettar and Sadananda Gowda are actually not happy. They are hurt as they had a dream of being the Chief Minister someday, but that dream is shattered now. The happiest person in BJP today is Shobha Karandlaje because she knows she will surely get a higher post in the ministry.”
“Hasn’t Yeddyurappa heard what Kumaraswamy had spoken about him over the media? He should know that the media doesn’t forgive. Just say that you don’t want this car. Yeddyurappa, it is your chance to prove that you have actually changed. The media criticised PM Modi for his Rs 10 lakh suit which he later auctioned. Media criticised CM Siddaramaiah for his Hublot watch which he declared as a state property. Some media channels are debating over the issue and saying that the CM’s case should be handed over to the ACB. Why are they so biassed? Is the law different for a Prime Minister?” He questioned.
Poojary welcomed the move of Siddaramiah’s son to resign from Matrix Imaging Solutions Ltd, which had won the tender for setting up a clinical laboratory and radio diagnosis and imaging services at the government-run Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI). Poojary said, “If he continues this way, he can be the Chief Minister some day. But the CM should have cancelled the tender and offered the tender to a public company. The withdrawal of his son came after Congress general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Digvijaya Singh had advised him to do so. This is a message from All India Congress Committee. Is the CM waiting for another message to be served?”
“This is my advice to the Chief Minister, please cancel the tender. Don’t be like Bangarappa who despite being warned by me revolted against Indira Gandhi and defeated the party. Bangarappa later came back and joined Congress with tears in his eyes. I had issued warnings to Prime Minister Narasimha Rao against the company of Chandraswami, but he rejected my advice and later suffered. CM Siddaramaiah, at least you listen to me, I am advising you for your own benefit,” he said.
Speaking about the visit of Bidar District Minister In-charge, Umashree, Poojary said, “She should tour her district to evaluate the water crisis instead of coming over to Dakshina Kannada. At least the Chief Minister has started touring the affected areas.”
Poojary criticised the media for questioning him about Baliga murder case. He said, “Am I the only one to speak? Why don’t you ask the leaders who are in power? Why do you want to have a controversy around me?”
Mr Poojary, Why don’t you contest against Yeddurappa and see whether you can win. Why do you worry so much about the BJP members. How does it matter for you whether BJP members are happy or not. How many of the Congis are happy with Congress party central leadership. The loyalist Bradwaj also recently criticized Sonia.
Jannanna has officially lost if ever since he challenged Shree Narendra Modiji to contest from Mangalore and then lost to Nalina Kumaara. Now, he is making these sexist remarks in public domain!! I’m no fan of shobha or Yeddy. Both represent the worst of state politics. However, making sexist remarks of this kind shows how Jannanna and the party he represents are out of touch with reality.
Krishna,
Janna is concerned about welfare of BJP leaders. He always wished they [BJP] should be happy. At 80 + he is not sure whether he is supporting BJP or Congress. Anyway his comments are helpful to BJP. God bless Janna and his age.
