BJP Mission is Snooping Citizens via WhatsApp, Sailing on Propaganda and Jailing Opposition – Jaiveer
Mangaluru: “The purpose of today’s press conference is to wake up the current BJP government which is in deep slumber when the country is facing severe economic crisis. In schools books, stories and mythology we were told that Kumbhakarna used to sleep and they used to beat the drums to wake him up, but no matter what the noise, he would never wake up. Similarly, the All India National Congress is initiating the all India agitation to wake up the BJP Kumbhakarna Government during the looming current economic crisis. The all India agitation throughout the country is to wake up the Kumbhakarna Sarkar and expose its indifferent, insensitive and unprepared approach to the economic crisis facing the country”, said the National Spokesperson, Indian National Congress Jaiveer Shergill in a press conference held at the DCC office here on November 5.
Addressing the mediapersons Jaiveer said, “The BJP Government since 30th May 2019 is either in ‘Celebration Mode’ or ‘Campaign Mode’ and refusing to enter ‘Work Mode’ due to which India’s economy lies in shambles today. Closing businesses, Evaporating Jobs, Sinking economy, Shrinking savings, Spiraling bank frauds, Flying Fraudsters reflect the sad state of affairs of Indian economy under BJP Government. The ‘Job Creation’ is in ‘coma’ as ‘Economic and Agricultural Growth’ remain on the ‘ventilator’. The ground reality is living testimony of the fact that BJP Govt report card is full of ‘red lines’ but the BJP Govt is only focused on managing headlines ignoring the impact of the worsening economic crisis on Indian lives.
Jaiveer further said, “Economy is Sinking in a Black Hole and BJP Government is busy selling 5 Trillion $ Economy Goal BJP Govt master of Headline Management and chief architect of Economic Mismanagement, 3M’s- Mismanaging, Misgoverning & Mishandling define BJP Govt’s Economic Governing BJP Govt focused solely on ‘fixing’ the opposition rather than ‘fixing’ the broken Economy. Intoxicated by ‘arrogance’ of power and blinded by ‘ignorance’, rather than adopting reformatory, corrective approach and addressing concerns of the various sectors impacted by the economic slow down the BJP Government is busy ‘window-dressing’ the grim reality staring the Nation.”
Speaking on joblessness and Unemployment Jaiveer said, “BJP Government has turned India’s ‘demographic dividend’ into a ‘demographic disaster’. According to the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), unemployment is at a 45 year high and still climbing. According to the Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate stands at 8.19% as in August 2019 which has further reason to 8.5% i.e. highest ever. Even globally, as per the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the unemployment rate is 4.95%. It means that India’s unemployment rate is double of the world’s average. The unemployment rate amongst the Educated is spreading like wildfire. The unemployment rate among Graduates to PhD is as high as 15%. The state of education is even more dismal. 74% of our youth between the age of 18-23 years do not go to college. Even worse, only 2.5% of colleges in India run a PhD programme (8th Annual All India Survey on Higher Education 2018-19, Ministry of HRD, GoI). Truth is that the BJP Government has demolished the educational edifice and employment avenues for the young in India”.
Jaiveer also said, “Kith & Kin of BJP leaders enjoy ‘Windfall Gain’ while India’s Youth suffer ‘Unemployment Pain’. On the one hand, RSS leaders advise the youth that begging too is employment and the Hon’ble Prime Minister considers making Pakodas as employment, on the other hand, the company owned by Jay Shah (s/o Shri Amit Shah) increases its income by 15000 per cent in less than 5 years. The value of the current assets of his company grows by 88 times in the same period. Those who have mislead the youth of the country must come out and tell us the secret of this miraculous business.
A Sinking Economy
BJP Government is solely responsible for the deep financial distress in the Indian economy bordering on financial emergency.
GDP Growth is slowest in last six years
Despite the data jugglery, GDP Growth is the first quarter of FY20 is at an abysmal low of 5%. All agencies – IMF, Fitch, World Bank, Moody’s and even RBI have cut India’s growth forecast. India has dropped to the level of 7th largest economy from being the 5th largest in the world.
New Private Investments have hit a 16 year low
Household Savings are at a 20 year low. India’s overall Savings Rate has declined to 30% from 34.6% earlier.
Industrial Growth shrank to 1.1% in August, 2019 – a 7 year low. Manufacturing Growth Rate at -1.2% (negative) is lowest since October 2014. Core Sector Growth is lowest in the last four years. Exports are in a free fall. In August 2019, exports fell by 6.6%. 21 of 29 major commodities, which account for 66.4% of the export bill, had recorded a year on year decline.
Growth in Capital Goods is -21% (negative) i.e. lowest since April, 2012. Electricity Sector Growth is -0.9% (negative) i.e. lowest since February 2013. Even Passenger Vehicle Sales have slumped by an unprecedented by 23.7% in September 2019.
Bank’s NPAs are already Rs.8,00,000 crore. Five years of BJP Government have seen nearly 25,000 cases of Bank Fraudsinvolving Rs.1,74,255 crore. Instead of punishing the guilty, shielding the bank fraudsters has become the new normal of the BJP Government. In reality, ‘Fleece& Fly’ is the new doctrine for those running away with public money.
To add to the financial woes, Central Government’s Gross Tax Revenues for 2019-20 are likely to see a shortfall of Rs.2,00,000 crore. Even in 2018-19, there was a shortfall of Rs.1,90,000 crore. On one hand, BJP Government has reduced the Corporate Taxes to 15%-22% from the earlier 30% and on the other hand, it is unable to even mop up the monthly GST collection figure of Rs.1,00,000 crore. All this has ensured that India will suffer a runaway fiscal deficit of 4%. If the unpaid bills of around Rs.10,00,000 crore are taken into account, it would cross 8% in reality.
The state of economic mess can be gauged from the fact that BJP Government is now tapping into the RBI emergency reserves, meant to be used in times of war or other grave financial emergencies. In August 2019, RBI transferred a whopping surplus of 1,76,000 crore to the BJP Government. Add to this, the combined annual transfer of Rs.2,13,000 crore by RBI in the years 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18, the total transfer so far comes to Rs.3,89,000 crore. For the first time ever post the 1990s, RBI has even started to sell its gold reserves in the open market. The net result is that the only institution meant to provide financial stability to India’s currency and economic system is being brutally compromised to serve the political interests of the BJP.
Agrarian Crisis
The BJP Govt is on a mission to make India ‘Kisani and Kisan Mukht’
Agriculture Sector GDP has slipped to a mere 2% in the first quarter of FY20. Instead of the promised 50% cost + MSP, farmers have been left at the mercy of market forces. In the current Kharif season, Kharif crops were selling at 8% to 37% below MSP i.e. an average of 22.5%. Crores of farmers growing Tur, Moong, Urad, Soybean, Sunflower, Kala Til, Jwar, Bajra, Ragi did not get MSP for their crops. Even the paddy farmers got Rs.200 per quintal less than the MSP of Rs.1,835 per quintal in the garb of moisture etc. This itself has caused a loss of Rs.50,000 crore to the farming community during Kharif season.
The MSP of Rabi crops for the season 2020-21, declared by BJP Government, has seen a pittance of increase of 4% to 7%. On one side, BJP Government has imposed a tax on agriculture by putting GST on fertilisers (5%), tractor & agriculture equipment (12%), pesticides (18%); farmers are bearing the brunt of increased prices of diesel on account of Central Excise Duty/Customs Duty/State Taxes. Farmer is facing the double whammy of no MSP for the crops and bearing huge doses of taxation vis-à-vis the agriculture inputs. With agriculture exports in a free fall, things are getting from bad to worse.
BJP is in the business of misleading the farmers by promising ‘double income’ by 2022 while their ‘anti-farmer’ policies have left the entire farming community with ‘zero income’ + ‘rising debt’.
‘Accountability & Answerability’ is missing from BJP Govt’s lexicon. The Central Govt is only focused on ‘fixing’ the opposition in false cases rather than ‘fixing’ the economy broken by their own misadventures and mismanagement.
Snooping on citizens via WhatsApp, Snoozing through Economic Crisis, Sailing on Propaganda and jailing the Opposition is the only Mission of the BJP Government.
