Udupi: Revision of license fee by Congress led CMC is for receiving kickbacks said former MLA Raghupati Bhat. He was speaking at a protest organized by the BJP over the revision of license fee by the CMC here on February 29.

Addressing the gathering Bhat said, “MLA Pramod Madhwaraj speaks about MLA’s receiving 10% commission on grants but when it comes to CMC revising license fee on the basis of square feet which is an option to receive kickbacks. The Congress led CMC has also hiked the fee from rupees 150 to rupees 2000 for issuing no-objection-certificate. The hike in NOC fee will create hurdles for people availing the housing scheme”.

The CMC administration says that it is revising license fee for revenue enhancement, the salaries of staff is released from the SFC fund, what is the necessity of revising the license fee by 300%, he added.

Congress is another name for corruption said BJP leader Uday Kumar Shetty. Congress led CMC is creating problems by increasing the license fee by 300%. The people of Udupi are facing severe water crisis but the CMC is not addressing their problems, he added.

Later the BJP members moved in a rally to the CMC office and submitted a memorandum to the CMC Commissioner Manjunathayya.

Councilors Yashpal Suvarna, Dr M R Pai, Vasanthi Shetty, Rashmitha Balakrishna, Sumithra Nayak, Shyam Prasad Kudva, Dinakar Shetty Herga, BJP leader Uday Kumar Shetty, Raghvendra Kini, Shankunthala Shetty and others were present.
