‘BJP Should Follow in the Footsteps of Mithun Rai to Learn Hindutva’- DCC Chief Harish Kumar

Mangaluru : Tit-for-Tat, in retaliation for the comments made by BJP that Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress president Mithun M Rai had disregarded the “Natha” tradition by making defamatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, during two protest meeting against the Hathras incident, on the outskirts of Mangaluru a few days ago, Dakshina Kannada Congress committee held a press meet slamming at the BJP for their allegations on Mithun Rai. It should be noted that Mithun had reportedly called Yogi Adityanath incompetent and had threatened to blacken his face with ink had he stepped foot in Dakshina Kannada district. The BJP had said that Rai had insulted the Nath tradition of Hinduism which Yogi Adityanath heads, and that Rai should realize the Natha tradition has close links with Mangaluru as its mutt is housed in Kadri and Yogi Adityanath is a leader of the tradition. One of the BJP leaders tore into the Congress Youth President by saying that Rai had not only shown his true colours but also displayed how the Congress party conducts itself.

DK Youth Congress President Mithun Rai Vs UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

Addressing the media at the DK Congress Committee Hall, DK District Congress Committee Chief Harish Kumar said, “BJP has embarked on a new level of hate politics to create rift between castes. Politicians should leave their caste and religion outside the purview of their political ideologies. After entering politics, politicians should not show any kind of bias for a particular caste and religion. Yogi Adityanath has become the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and there is nothing wrong in saffron wearing seers entering politics. However, seers should not make saffron a cover for their misdeeds in politics”. “Democracy allows people to criticize the Prime Minister, chief ministers and MLAs. Being a chief minister, Yogi Adityanath also should face all criticisms and react to it as a responsible people’s representative,” Harish Kumar said referring to the FIRs being filed by BJP workers against Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai for criticising Yogi Adityanath.

“BJP has resorted to hate politics by bringing in caste for their political mileage. There is no respect for the lives of poor and Dalits — the body of a victim was burnt secretly. Congress has been raising voice against such hate politics that BJP follows. The Youth Congress leader Rai also has spoken against Yogi Adityanath. Both Rai and Adityanath are politicians. Rai has the right to criticize a chief minister. If one is not capable of accepting criticisms, then he/she is not fit to be a politician. Presently BJP is playing caste politics into the issue. It should be noted that Yogi Adityanath had 52 cases against him which were withdrawn after he became the chief minister” said Kumar.

Kumar further said, “Does Mithun Rai not have the right to criticize the chief minister? BJP should follow in the footsteps of Mithun Rai to learn Hindutva, and Rai need not learn Hindutva from BJP. Mithun Rai is way ahead than BJP in preserving Hindu culture and tradition. Rai has been helping people, organizing in ‘Gau Daan’ (donating cows) and ‘Pili Nalike’ (tiger dance) programmes to uphold the culture of our district and nation. Therefore, BJP should learn Hindutva and social justice from Mithun Rai. When Swami Agnivesh was attacked and the culprits tore his saffron attire, no BJP leaders raised their voices or fought for justice. Regarding the gang rape incident of a young woman in Uttar Pradesh, there was no action taken by CM Yogi nor did any BJP raised their voices against the rape incident. BJP did not even utter a single word against the rape incident. when the murderer and victim belong to Hindu community. BJP will raise their voices only when the assaulter or murderers hail from other communities”

Harinath-the Ex-MCC Mayor also speaking during the press meet said, “I condemn the complaint made by Jogi Community President Kiran on Mithun Rai. It should be noted that Kiran, who is a self-proclaimed president, does not have any idea nor knowledge of anything, over that he has lodged a complaint against Mithun Rai for insulting the Jogi community, probably due to political pressure. How about this incident, when the circle near Circuit House was named after Jwalanath, local BJP leaders removed the name board and created an issue over naming the circle. How come the Jogi community does not raise voice against it? I challenge Kiran to have a face-to-face discussion on the ongoing issue.” Former MLA Moideen Bava demanded that arrest of the culprit should be made soon, who attacked a former taluk panchayat member at Kulshekar in City.
