BJP stages protest Against delay in Land Conversion and Single Site

Mangaluru: MLA Vedavaysa Kamath warned that if the sand and revenue department problems will not be solved, BJP will hold an indefinite hunger strike in front of the DC office. He was speaking at a Dharna held by the BJP in front of the DC office here on December 7.

Addressing the protesters MLA Vedavaysa Kamath said, “Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat has brought an order letter from the Union government to lift the sand from the CRZ area. But the state government is not issuing the permission for removing the sand. The state government has no information about the problems in the land business after making the property card compulsory. The district minister in-charge is engaged in party activities and not bothered about the issues the public are facing. The district minister in-charge has not allowed MUDA meetings in the last three months. The minister has not done anything for the people, he should resign”, he demanded.

MLA Kamath further said, “Even though as per the rules, traditional sand extraction has been allowed but in our district, there are different rules which is condemnable. There is also the M Sand Lobby contributing to the increase in scarcity of sand in Mangaluru. If the state government does not respond to the revenue department and sand issues favourably, we will intensify our protest”, he warned.

Corporator Roopa D Bangera said that the chief minister is struggling to retain his position in the coalition government and has neglected the problems of the Coastal districts. If same continues the BJP would gherao the chief minister’s residence.

BJP leaders Capt Brijesh Chowta, Monappa Bhandary, Anand Bantwal, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present.
