BJP targeting over 50% vote share in UP: Nadda
Lucknow: The SP, BSP coming together in Uttar Pradesh is a reflection of BJP’s strength and the party is striving to win over 50 per cent votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls to meet the combined challenge, BJP’s Uttar Pradesh in-charge for the general elections, J.P. Nadda, said on Wednesday
Talking to mediapersons here, he said that elections were not about physics but chemistry and people were keen to give the party another chance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Everyone is with us and it is our responsibility to move on taking all sections along. Election is chemistry and the chemistry is that the whole country as well as Uttar Pradesh is moving ahead to give blessing to BJP under Modiji’s leadership,” he said.
On the alliance between the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party announced on Saturday last, he said the party knew that this is going to happen “and this is recognition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).”
“We had anticipated that this (alliance) and it shows BJP’s strength. When we know it is our strength, we have to perform accordingly. That is why we are targeting 50 per cent plus votes in the upcoming elections,” he said.
Nadda said the party will fight the poll on the issue of development. “It is people’s agenda as they want that the development should take place. And we are working for that.”
He said the BJP represents “all sections” of the society and is addressing their concerns and there will be no “quota system” as far as development is concerned.
“We move on by taking everyone along and for everyone’s development. We want to address the issues, concerns of everyone,” he said.
