BJP YM Should Cancel Mangaluru Chalo Bike Rally for Peace in District – Khader
Mangaluru: “The harmony in the district will be disturbed if BJP Yuva Morcha holds Mangaluru Chalo Bike Rally on September 7 since people from 5 districts will gather in Mangaluru. The Mangaluru Chalo Bike rally should be cancelled for the sake of peace and harmony in the district”, said the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on September 2.
Addressing the mediapersons U T Khader said, “I urge the organizers to cancel the bike rally because the people of Dakshina Kannada want to live in peace, harmony and brotherhood. In this democratic system, everyone has the right to protest and hold rallies. But since some time our district has witnessed communal disturbances. In such a situation holding a bike rally from various districts is not advisable”.
Minister Khader further said, “When people come from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, and Hubballi on bikes untoward incidents may occur. Who will be held responsible? Even the police department will not be able to monitor the bikers. We do not object to hold bike rallies at taluk or district-level but bikes coming from other districts to Mangaluru will create disturbances. In this context, the BJP Yuva Morcha should cancel the Bike rally. The police department should give priority to peace and harmony in the district. If any untoward incidents take place because of the bike rally, the police department will be held responsible,” said Khader.
When asked about appointing Ramalinga Reddy as Home minister Khader said, “For the post of home minister, the names of four senior leaders were shortlisted including Ramanath Rai. We wanted Ramanath Rai to be the Home minister but Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has appointed Ramalinga Reddy as the HM”.
When asked about the statement that ‘Rai is unfit for the post of Home Minister’ by senior Congress leader Vijay Kumar Shetty, Khader said, “The real Congress party workers will not comment against Ramanath Rai. I do not know what Vijay Kumar Shetty has said about Ramanath Rai”.
