‘BJP’s vision Congress-mukt Bharat would remain a Dream’ – Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: Former Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the BJP’s vision of Congress-mukt Bharat would remain just a dream as the Congress would emerge stronger in the ULB elections.
Speaking at a press meet held at the Udupi Press Club on August 29 Pramod said, “Merely issuing rhetorical statements and indulging in sloganeering like Congress Mukt Bharat will remain only a dream for the BJP and will not have the desired impact at the ground level.”
The Congress Party is like the elephant, you can draw a small picture of it but you can’t change its size. The Congress party will shine forever even if anyone leaves the party. The Congress will live forever, I will never quit the party, he said.
The election commission has announced the elections for the urban local bodies. 5 years ago, the people of Udupi blessed the Congress party and the Congress Party has given a corruption-free rule in the Udupi City Municipal Council. There are No serious allegations of corruption against the Congress municipal councillors. 5 years ago during the BJP administration, they failed to tackle the drinking water problem in Udupi City, and then I personally supplied drinking water through tankers from my own money. During the Congress rule for five consecutive years there was no any problem of water supply in Udupi CMC, he said.
There was no single protest by the public against the municipality for drinking water during the last 5 years. But the BJP president MLA Raghupthi Bhat held a political protest against the CMC for not giving the licence to his hotel.
The Congress government led by Siddaramaiah has given Rs 503 crore grants to Udupi Municipal Corporation, in which Rs 353 crore work is already under progress. Due to the false allegations against the Congress government and other issues, the Congress failed to get a majority in the 2018-Assembly elections. The party will win the maximum seats in Udupi CMC, he said.
