Mumbai, July 15 (IANS) Bowing to demands from the Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS), Bollywood distributor B4U Films has decided to black out Pakistani movie “Bin Roye” in Maharashtra, an official said here on Wednesday.
The distributor submitted a letter to MNCKS President Amey Khopkar to the effect, confirming the movie would not be released in Maharashtra.
However, the movie would be released as scheduled all over India on Friday to coincide with the Eid festival.
The MNCKS had written to B4U on July 10 raising objections to the movie’s release in the state and threatened to stop it in ‘MNS style’.
Khopkar contended that Pakistan allegedly sponsors terror in the country, particularly Maharashtra, and it does not permit Indian artistes to work in that country, and warned against releasing the movie.
The company also cancelled a scheduled media preview show here on Wednesday after the decision to skip Maharashtra.
Khopkar assured B4U that MNCKS had no objection if the movie is released elsewhere in the country, following which the distributor is going ahead with plans to release “Bin Roye” nationally and globally on Friday.
