Boom, Bling, Grandeur and Fun mark ‘Vibrant Diwali Bash’ at Eden Club

Mangaluru: As they say “Better late than never”- there is no time to celebrate an occasion, you can do it anytime, anywhere and anyhow. And for that matter, even though Deepavali this year was celebrated on 29 and 30 October, but the biggest and vibrant Diwali bash that members of Eden Club along with their family and friends anxiously wait evry year during the festival of lights season was hosted on Saturday, 5 November on the lawns of Eden Club from 6 pm until 11pm. With lots of music in the air, sumptuous food and array of drinks, and for the dance aficionados, there was lots of dance, dance and more dance-where duo Dj’s Pranam (Pran) and Ashish belted out some popular Bollywood hits with added touch of EDM, techno, rap and pop- and also with a masala of Disco Dandiya. The pulsating beats of these two Dj’s kept the night going and grooving, with ladies dressed in their traditional expensive and ostentatious Deepavali clothing and jewellery added charm and glitter to the bash. Bling..bling…color..color..Omg, I was color blind?

Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights celebrated every year is One of the major festivals of Hinduism, it spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed. The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night.

Also acclaimed as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is associated with lights, sweets, and liveliness; especially lights. Lights and fireworks have a significant role to play in this festival. This is why, when we hear the name Diwali, the first impression that flashes through our minds is of multicolored and impressive fireworks, sprinkling various sorts of bright colored lights in the night sky. Although the tradition of fireworks on Diwali is not very old, still they have succeeded in becoming such a vital part of this festival that you can’t even imagine a wonderful Diwali without them. And talking of lights, the entire Eden Club was decked with colorful lights, and the Vibrant Diwali bash had a dazzling fireworks display which lit the sky, just to make the neighbors dogs bark in fear, and a few hate mongers nearby cursing for the loud noise, or probably even complain to the cops. Buy who cares-its Diwali party time, and happens only once a year- so control your anger all you neighbors!

Yes, the Festive of Lights Celebrations was in full swing and in “High Spirits” with Club members socializing with their family and friends, and indulging themselves in fun and frolic- along with they were tempted with the festive flavors of Disco Dandiya, along with the pulsating beats of DJ! And the little one’s were in their own world jumping, dancing and having some kid fun. The evening was a perfect visual retreat with sensational musical fiesta, dazzling live dance performances, and much more. With the music and stage lights provided by Gear House India- a Pro Sound and Lights Rental company, the entire bash was professionally compered by dashing and dress to thrill damsel, Lavina!

Kudos to Eugene Rent- the Managing Director of Eden Club, his son Dr. Eugene G Rent, (Consultant Surgical Oncologist at AJ Hospital), Manager of Eden Club-Commander G P Mascarenhas, and Food and Beverage Manager-Vasu, Sudhir Kumar Jalan- Secretary and Sumith Rao- Convener of the Bash, Ivan Pinto- Eden Club Sports Secretary, along with the bevy of Club staff and Chefs for putting up a glittering and “Vibrant Deepavali Bash” – one of the best Diwali parties in town.

On a final note, I wasn’t happy, so also all the revelers at the Bash, because when everyone wanted to enjoy the night little longer, the curfew time of 10 pm restricted by the law enforcement officials dimmed the party and fun mood. Just because a bunch of neighbors can’t bear the brunt of sound past 10 pm. Come on–but how about the open air music concerts that take place during festive time, where the loud music and fireworks carry on past midnight or till the wee hours. Is it just because a few politicians were invited for the event or because of the power of money. Few weeks ago, couple of music celebrations to mark Dasara and Deepavali were held in open air at Kadri Grounds, and the celebrations went on till late night, and still no cops bothered to stop it. And this happens, year after year. And for that matter, there are three hospitals close by, namely City Hospital, Vijaya Clinic and Tejasvini Hospital-but no one objects. When other party halls, pubs, functions etc are allowed to have loud music until 11 pm, why Eden Club is restricted to 10 pm sound curfew? This speaks of “Double Standard” of our law abide police force. Bah hambug! In conclusion, all I have to say, Sound/Noise pollution Laws have to be implemented/enforced equally irrespective of caste, creed, race, religion, partiality, festivals, locality etc etc. Period.
