New York, Sep 6 (IANS) Canadian women’s tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from both the women’s doubles and mixed doubles competitions at the US Open.
Following Friday’s matches — when she played both singles and mixed doubles, Bouchard reportedly slipped and fell in the locker room and sustained a head injury, reports usopen.org on Saturday.
According to tournament director David Brewer, the severity of the injury was — and continues to be — assessed by the on-site medical personnel at the US Open.
The World No.21 on Friday reached the fourth round in singles with a 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 win over Slovak Dominika Cibulkova.
She was recommended to withdraw from doubles and mixed doubles competitions. Any decision about competing in the singles competition has not yet been made. She will continue to get medical evaluation and treatment till a decision has been reached.
