‘Break ke Baad’ – Assault in Jail, Victim Hospitalized
Mangaluru: Fights and unrest were frequent events in the district sub-jail until a year ago. Stringent steps like monitoring by the state industrial security force and installation of mobile jammers have brought such incidents almost to zero level.
But after a long break, a minor fight broke out on Tuesday night. Narasimha Murty, who has been lodged in the old block, was reportedly assaulted by the son of Vamanjoor Rohi and his gang who are also in custody.
A suspicion that Murty had passed on some information about ganja smuggling into the jail is said to be the reason for the assault.
He was admitted to Wenlock hospital in an injured condition. A case has been registered at the Barke police station.
