Brent D’Souza Receives Sheikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic excellence

UAE: Brent D’Souza, a year 7 student hailing from Udupi District and studying in Cambridge International School, Dubai wins the Sheikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic excellence.

This prestigious UAE National award was conferred on him by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance at a glittering awarding ceremony that took place on Sunday, 29th April 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Brent said “It is the third time that I received a National Education Distinguished Award and the second time I got the Hamdan Award. The first time I won, I was a student in The Kindergarten Starters; it was truly a turning point for me.”

Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, a GCC wide program was established 20 years ago. The award targets educational excellence and cultivation of talents, skills and leadership qualities by nurturing and honouring the gifted individuals who provide outstanding achievements and creations.

Brent is a persuasive, ambitious, dependable, young achiever. He has consistently shown high academic performance, and besides, is multifaceted. This award has crowned his dedication and excellence with recognition. It is definitely a unique achievement as the criteria for the award are tough and are of high standards. Brent rightly does a terrific job of balancing his academic with the extra-curricular activities. He has also worked on eco-projects and rendered selfless support to community and environment programs. He has won several inter-school, intra-school and national competitions.

Brent said, “This is indeed a great honour to me. I want to make my nation proud. I am thankful for my school and all the teachers for their trust and support in all my endeavours. As for my parents, they are my pillars of love and strength.”
