Brutal Murder Case in Nejar: Police Seize Weapon Used for Crime

Udupi: The Udupi police on November 18 succeeded in seizing the knife used by Praveen Chaugule (39), the accused in the Nejar murder case.

On November 15, Praveen Chowgule was arrested by the police at Kudachi in Belgaum, he was produced before the court on November 16 and remanded to police custody for 14 days. He was later interrogated and the search for the weapon used in the crime continued.

The accused was misleading the police by not giving adequate information during investigations. First Praveen said that he had thrown the weapon used for the crime, from the bridge while going from Udupi to Mangalore, he later said that he had disposed of it near his house in Mangalore.

On this basis, when the house and surroundings were searched for weapons. While searching, a knife used for the crime was found in his Bijai flat. Apart from that, it is known that the police have seized all the items including the mask, bloodstained clothes and the car used in the crime.

Udupi SP Dr Arun K said that the Weapon and other materials used during the time of offence were recovered yesterday and today. Once the investigation is complete will provide full details.
