BSK enthrals audience with Billava Chavadi 2023
Kuwait: Billava Sangha Kuwait (BSK) leaves audience mesmerized with Billava Chavadi 2023, on 29th September 2023 at Aspire Indian International School, Auditorium 2, Abbasiya, Kuwait. The main attractions of the event, Tulu comedy drama ‘Itte Gottaapuji’, the cultural events and the beautiful Dussehra themed Reception was appreciated by one and all.
The program commenced with Guru Pooja followed by Kuwait and India National Anthems. Prayer song was rendered by Ms. Sanskrithi S Poojary and the most awaited Cultural program was inaugurated with the lighting of lamp by the President Ms. Sushma Manoj, Chief Guest Mr. Nikhil Kumar – Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Mr. Ramdas Nair – Head of Retail Sales, BEC Exchange Company, Mr. Aji K R – President, Saradhi Kuwait and BSK Management Committee Members. Release of Souvenir “Billava Bolpu” was done in a very unique way by Master Nish in the form of Tiger Dance. The President Ms. Sushma Manoj then welcomed everyone with a humble speech which was followed by a welcome dance by Ms. Shine Venugopal.

It was followed by the felicitation to the Chief Guest Mr. Nikhil Kumar, Mr. Ramdas Nair, Mr. Aji K R. Drama Artists Ms. Lucy Lobo Aranha, Ms. Ashwini Pinto. Mr. Johnson D’Almedia and Drama Director Mr. Mahesh Poojary Polali were felicitated. Guest artists Mr. Karthik Kumar Kadekar & Mr. Vikram Manchi were honoured with a shawl, Flower, fruits and memento.
Farewell was given to Mr. Gautham Suvarna, founder member of Billava Sangha Kuwait who worked as General Secretary, Joint Secretary, PRO, Treasurer and welfare Officer. In his speech he wished BSK good luck for all the upcoming events and ensured that he would be committed to BSK even from his native place, Mangalore. Farewell was also given to Mr. Hrishikesh Kotian who is the present Treasurer of the association. The chief guest of the event, Mr. Nikhil Kumar in his speech, spoke about unity and integrity of the nation and gave his best wishes to Billava Chavadi.
The cultural program began with the Group Dances and Dance Skit along with Tulunadu’s traditional tiger dance. All dances were performed by BSK members and their children, receiving good appreciation by the audience. Dance Choreography was done by Ms. Sudha Sandesh Amin, Ms. Kavya Prashanth and Mr. Krishna Poojary, while the Dance Skit was conceptualised by Mr. Ghanshyam Attavar.
The artists of Billava Sangha Kuwait performed the much-awaited Tulu super hit comedy Drama ‘Itte Gottaapuji’. Drama was written by Mr. Vikram Manchi and directed by BSK member Mr. Mahesh Poojary Polali. Vikram Manchi kept the audience in splits with his comedy timing while Mr. Karthik Kumar Kadekar thrilled the audience with his perfect music timing. Our guest artist Ms. Lucy Lobo Aranha – famous Tulu & Konkani Cine and Stage artist played a vital role fascinating the audience.
The cast included local artist Mr. Mahesh Poojary Polali, Mr. Amarnath Suvarna, Mr. Rajesh Kukian, Ms. Ashwini Pinto, Mr. Mithun Vishwanath, Mr. Sujeet Amin, Mr. Sujith Kotian, Ms. Preeti Shailesh, Mr. Johnson Dalmeida, Ms. Jyothi Sudhir, Mr. Gautham Suvarna and Mr. Sudhakar Poojary, while it was well supported by Mr. Sushith Kukian. Mr. Sushith Kukian also ably managed the lighting for the drama.
The program was beautifully coordinated by Cultural Secretaries, Mr. Rajesh Kukian and Mr. Mahesh Poojary while sound and lighting was done by Waves Events and Rentals. The Videography and Photography was done by Mr. Gireesh Benance, Mr. Shiju Manjali and Mr. Biju Ninan. The backdrops and the stage settings were effectively handled by Mr. Sathish Acharya, Mr. Amarnath Suvarna and team, while the Souvenir Artwork was done by Mr. Manoj Kumar. The widely admired reception was arranged by Mr. Sandeep Kumar Attavar, Mr. Amith Sanil, Ms. Soumya Suvarna and Team, while the technical team was ably handled by Mr. Raghav Poojary, Mr. Charanraj Suvarna and Mr. Dhanraj Poojary.
The event was gracefully hosted by Mr. Purandara Manchi, well assisted by Ms. Tina Govind. The Welfare Officer, Mr. Charanraj Suvarna read out the welfare activities while the Vote of thanks was delivered by General Secretary, Mr. Anish Kotian. The program concluded by announcing the raffle draw winners, and by a delicious dinner.
The talent of BSK members were utilized in every part of the event including dialogues, direction, lighting, backdrops/stage settings, preparation of props and on-stage performance.
