BSY not ‘lobbying for me’, says son Vijayendra

Mysuru: BJP MLA B. Y. Vijayendra on Thursday said that his father and former chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa is not lobbying to get the saffron party’s state president post for him.

“My father is also not giving his opinion in favor or against any of the candidates,” Vijayendra said.

Talking to reporters, Vijayendra said, “If at all I am given the post of party’s state president, that won’t be because I am the son of Yediyurappa.

“If some other leader is chosen for the post, the selection will be made on the basis of the candidate’s capability.”

“It’s being said Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje will be made the State President and BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal the leader of the opposition, but, Yediyurappa will not agree to this. All such statements are false,” Vijayendra added.

“Yediyurappa has strengthened the party in the state. He had also helped many leaders to grow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top Central leaders, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president J. P. Nadda would discuss on who should be made party state president.

“The matter is before the high command and a good decision would be taken in this regard. I want to convey at this juncture honestly that the selection of the leader of opposition is delayed. Presently, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is working for the party as the President,” he stated.

“We do not have any clues on who will be made the State President by the high command,” he said.
