Mangaluru: Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar held a press meet at the commissioner’s office here on March 20.
Addressing the mediapersons Chandra Sekhar said that on February 29, an unidentified male body was found near ASK Elite Veg center at the Central Market. In this regard a case was registered in the North police station. On March 5, the deceased was identified as Jayananda alias Jaya Ammanna (50). He was a daily wage labourer and a resident of Moodushedde.
In this connection two persons have been arrested by the North police on March 20. The accused have been identified as Ravi alias Raveendra Salian (35), a resident of Simon Lane Capitanio and Naveen (20) from Davanagere.
During investigation both the accused revealed that they had a quarrel with Jayananda Ammanna under the influence of Alcohol and in a of rage killed Jayananda Ammanna.
The operation was carried out under the direction of police commissioner Chandra Sekhar and the able guidance of DCP of law and order K M Shantharaj, DCP of crime Dr Sanjeev M Patil, Bunder police inspector Shantharam, Sujan Shetty, Rajesh Alva, Govardhan and team.
