Bunts Bid Adieu to Lord Ganesha as Shobhayatra Begins from Omkar Nagar

Mangaluru: The Shobhayatra of Lord Ganesha began from Omkar Nagar here on August 27.

Prior to the procession, there was a stage programme which began with a Bhajan. The managing trustee of Sri Siddi Vinayaka Pratishtana Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi welcomed the gathering.

The programme was inaugurated by the Chairman of A J Hospital Dr A J Shetty by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.

Addressing the gathering Dr A J Shetty said, “The Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti and Siddi Vinayaka Prathistana have been organizing the Ganeshotsava every year. From the past 14 years, they are organizing the Ganeshotsava in a disciplined manner. They are also recognizing the achievers in the society and felicitating them without discrimination of caste, creed or colour. It is good to see various Bhajan teams here who have come to accompany the procession of Lord Ganesha. If we retain our Dharma, it will protect us. Let Lord Ganesha Bless us all and let the procession go on well without any hurdles.”

Addressing the gathering senior radiation oncologist at MIO Dr Sanath Hegde said, “From the past three days the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti and Siddi Vinayaka Prathistana have organized various programmes and today we have reached the last stage of the Puja. I have earlier seen the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samiti and Siddi Vinayaka Prathistana organizing Ganeshotsava in a grand manner. People can be seen chanting Bhajans throughout the procession which indicates that the roots of Sanathana Dharma are very strong in Tulunadu. The Shobhayatra is a special one because of the Bhajans.”

While concluding Dr Sanath said, “I am pleased to hand over the Ganeshotsava flags to the Bhajan teams. Let the Shobhayatra conclude without any hurdles. Let Lord Ganesha bless us all and clear all the obstacles.”

Asha Jyothi Rai delivered the vote of thanks. Prior to the procession, the Bhajan team leaders were given the Ganeshotsava flags by Dr Sanath Hegde. 34 Bhajan teams from the district participated in the Bhajan competition. The Lord Ganesh Idol was taken in a procession after the immersion Puja.

The procession will pass through Bunts Hostel – Karangalpady – PVS – Dongarakeri- New Chitra Talkies – Carstreet and Sri Venkataramana Temple after which the Lord Ganesha idol will be immersed in the Mahammayi Temple pond.
